iPhone 4[S] on AT&T and Verizon

Since the new iPhone 4 is a "world phone" with both GSM and CDMA, does it mean I can switch between carriers (neglecting contractual negation fees) without having to buy a new phone?

I am without a contract with Verizon and am considering going to AT&T as they include unlimited minutes cell2cell if you have their family texting bundle...

Any comments are well appreciated.
