I've had this phone for a few months and it's been doing this from day one but I've dealt with it. However, it's become too much of a headache.
This is a refub iphone 4. I won't get into the story about how I wound up with a refurb. Anyway, since I got this phone it has had a problem with the screen becoming unresponsive. If I leave it in my pocket, pressed against my body, there are no problems. But if I leave it out of my pocket (or just not pressed against my body) for more than a few minutes, the screen becomes unresponsive and the longer it is left out of pocket the longer it takes for it to straighten out. For example, when I put it on my nightstand at night and I wake up in the morning, I have to put it against my body for 2-3 minutes before the screen decides to start working (I can also fight with it, tapping over and over for a few minutes but that's a lot more frustrating). This problem has obviously lead to me missing calls and with my job it's becoming a real problem.
I can call out by using voice dialing so the phone doesn't stop working, just the screen. And like I said, once the screen decides to start working, it's perfect.
I have done everything I know of. Restored from backup, restored as new, searched the forums for solutions, taken apps off and added them back one by one, changed my settings, etc. This has led me to believe that it's a hardware issue and I have made an appointment at the genius bar tomorrow. The one thing still making me think it may be software based is, when I have it plugged into a computer (not just the usb charger, but plugged into the computer) the screen works just fine. It never locks up. I can leave it over night and come back to it and as long as it was left plugged into the computer, there is no problem.
Does anyone have any ideas before I make my trip tomorrow? I'm not looking forward to it as I live over and hour from the nearest store and I just know they're gonna try to do a reset and send me on my way like I'm an idiot.
Please Help!
