I'm in Canada and I'm trying to unlock an iPhone 4, but I don't know the original carrier. When I first got it, the details in settings said Fido.
So to double check, I restored on iTunes with a different carrier sim card (Bell) and didn't get the Congratulations your iphone is unlocked message. I didn't even get the Invalid sim or Sim not supported message. I was able to activate with multiple different sim cards.
I was also able to get service with Bell and Fido. However, I have to restore or reset the phone to pick up signal. If I just switch cards or reset network settings I get No Service. If I toggle airplane mode on/off it says invalid sim.
I'm just wondering if this is a glitch or something because I've never seen an iPhone that was unlocked not show the congratulations message on iTunes and I can't just switch cards and connect to a network, I have to reset the phone. Now I have no idea what the original carrier can be.
