iPhone 4 sim free on o2 payg??

Okay i know o2 arent selling the iphone 4 on payg

But i have a reserved iphone that im picking up from apple. If i get it locked to o2 or unlocked/simfree can i still go get a o2 payg microsim or cut down a spare o2 payg sim and have it work?
