Iphone 4 Specific Backup

Hey guys,

Is there any way to only back up contacts and SMS from the iPhone 4? I'd like to do a full restore and back up but only the contacts and SMS as that's all I really care about. In fact there are a lot of apps I don't want any more and various redundant settings that are not needed.

I find it stupid how this is not straightforward to accomplish. Even Nokia got this right. So I don't want to do a full backup, just the contacts and SMS - oh also Notes. Possible?

How do you only back up SMS+contacts????? Is this really that difficult?

Uncheck everything in iTunes you don't want to sync by clicking on your device and navigating the tabs. I'm not sure about SMS though... It doesn't seem like there's an option to disable syncing, so I assume it must not be something you can disable.

Jailbreaking, yes. Otherwise no. Not for your SMS messages anyway. You can sign up for a gmail account to sync all of your contacts though.
