I got a new hard drive for my mbp and I just set it up as a new install and when I plug in my iPhone the music shows up I can play it, etc...but I cannot add new music. The computer wants me to erase the iphone and restore it. I do not want to do that because I have a lot of text messages on there (Over 2 years old). I do have the old hard drive that I have not erased yet, is there anything I can do so I can have it setup on this computer?

This is the issue I have, how do I resolve it?

Hey. I had a similar problem when a friend PUNCHED one of my MacBooks. Had to buy a new HD.

The easiest thing to do requires your old hard drive. Does it work/do you have access to it?

If not, I can tell you how, but it will take a LOT more typing.

PS: a good way to permanently store text messages is through screenshots.

I have about 90,000 text messages hahah screenshots would not work. But I do have access to the old HD
