iphone 4 -- tethering wheel spinning + can't connect to home wifi

These problems seem to be related, but when I check my network status, I have the spinning internet tethering wheel spinning as if it's trying to connect, even though I am not set up for tethering and don't want to be.

Also, my phone intermittently won't connect to my wifi at home. There are times that everything is working fine, but other times (like now), I get the spinning wheel and am stuck using 3G service for data.

Anyone else?

I had this problem too, this worked to make it stop

I had the same issue. I turned off my phone and waited for a time. When I turned it back on and went back into the network settings, I waited a minute and it came back up with the option to turn tethering on or off. The phone quit searching with the spinning wheel and my phone is not using massive battery now.
