Hi, just looking for some confirmation on what i need to make this possible.

Is the iphone 4 on 5.01 able to mirror image to a HD display or is that only possible on the iPad 2?

Is it best to buy the official Apple AV HDMI adapter or would a cheaper alternative like the link below work ?

Thank you

Yes you can mirror via HDMI but you can't mirror movies from what I've tried.

As for 3rd part adapters, I'd stay away. If you are using it for presentation purposes then that would not be ideal cuz what if you run out of juice. The Apple Adapter has a 30 pin for power.

Mirroring is only enabled on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4 S⃣

Video out is enabled on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4 S⃣, as well as both iPads and the 4th generation iPod touch via the Apple branded HDMI dongle.

What he said.

The OP has a 4 not a 4s

So what are the differences between 'mirroring' and video out?

Thanks

Mirroring will display your device on the monitor,

Video out will only display a Movie, Pictures or Audio (music) but you will not be able to see your icons on the display.

Essentially this:

I'd rather use HDMI and get 1080p output to my TV, I have a 4s and 1st gen iPad. Composite video looks like garbage on my Plasma.
