iphone 4 to ipad 2 tethering problem

i got a wifi ipad 2 as i have tethering on my iphone 4 contract. I have set up the personal hotspot and the ipad finds it and connects via wifi. But the wifi symbol doesn't appear instead its a a chain link type symbol. When i try to get online nothing happens. I have connected an ipod touch to my personal hotspot and it works fine. Can anybody help?

It should work once you have the "chain link" icon. If it doesn't connect, you may have to do a restart. Do it on both the iPad and iPhone. Once they are restarted go to settings on the iPad and connect to the iPhone. Stay on the wifi page until you have the connection displayed on the iPad with an IP address.
