So I am trying to get an Apple Store supplied replacement iPhone 4 unlocked.

ATT iPhone Account history ....

1 iPhone 4 broke
2 Went to ATT to get a new phone, not an iPhone
3 Went to Apple and they gave me a replacement phone

Attempt to get replacement iPhone 4 unlocked by ATT

Did the online thing and it said " Cannot unlock IMEI .... "

Called ATT and they said because the replacement phone had never been on the account they would have to manually submit a request to the unlock group.

Today got an email from the Unlock Group saying ......

We are unable to complete your request at this time due to the following reason:

The IMEI provided is not a valid AT&T IMEI

Please resubmit your request after verifying your device is a device with an AT&T logo indicating it is compatible on our AT&T network and confirming your 15 digit IMEI by dialing *#06# on your keypad. You can also confirm your 15 digit IMEI by tapping Settings > General > About.

So I went home and took the SIM card out of a working ATT iPhone and installed it in the replacement phone that Apple gave me.

The replacement phone worked fine, I made and received calls on it.

QUESTION: Is it possible Apple gave me an unlocked iPhone? How can I tell ?????
