First off, I do not own one yet, but soon. However, I was over at the VZ store playing with one yesterday and today. I recorded some video yesterday, sent it to myself as an email, and it looked great, came in as a MOV file.

Today I did the same but sent to my email, but had to send using MMS, and it came in as a 3gp file.

Am I correct in assuming that the phone always records it as a MOV file in HD, but converts it to a 3gp file depending on how it is being sent?

Thanks for the info. I just want to be as informed as possible when I finally go and purchase one.

Wow, that was fast. Thanks!
And, I assume that when I download the video into my laptop, it will be a mov file?

Yes, full 720p at 10mbit/s (which is plenty).

Anyone know if the a/v is untouched when sending as with an email?

MBit/s which is 10^7 times more ;)

The iPhones Videos are .mov but MMS is not able to transfer huge files so it will use a compressed .gp3 format.
