I opened the ABC app on my iPad today and a Modern Family episode caught my interest. It was the "Airport 2010" episode, which aired on May 5. Not a bad show, by the way.

At one point during the episode a character gets a text message and checks his iPhone. I saw an iPhone that appeared to have a flat, glass back in the few seconds it was on-screen, so I rewinded it and checked again. There was the unmistakeable metal frame. I paused it and took a screenshot on my iPad:

I'm surprised that this is the first mention of it I've found. It seemed unlikely that Modern Family would air an episode with the iPhone 4 in it a few month before it was even announced, but I can clearly see the iPhone 4 in that episode. It's surprising that nobody noticed it.

Um. I keep hitting the 'play' button. It doesn't play.

Also, ;)

When I paused it on my iPad, that big Play button shows up. Then, I took a screenshot of my iPad screen. That's a real image, you can check the episode (though I don't have the exact time into the episode that the iPhone 4 shows up).

No, it's not.
I've said it before, but here it is again:

These threads are awesome.

A very limited number of people at Apple had access to the new phone. Why would they give it to the production crew on a TV show or for a movie weeks or months before it is shown to the world?

That's exactly what I thought, that Apple wouldn't give these out. I've read other threads like this, and I was surprised when every time I rewatched those few seconds I made out a flat back and a metal frame. This looks the most convincing to me out of other threads I've seen like this.

That's a 3gs. It sorta looks like a 4 because of the light relecting off of it. But you can notice that there is no LED flash.

Well Steve Jobs is the largest shareholder of Disney and Disney owns ABC, and Modern Family is on ABC. I agree that it's not the iPhone 4, but if it were to be on any network it would ABC.

Modern Family also had the iPad before it was released, but after it was announced.

Here's a better picture. Definitely not and iPhone 4. The edge is clearly rounded black. :)

After the fourth ad played and I still had yet to see a single second of video from the show, I clicked out. Precisely why I don't use Hulu.

Precisely why tvshack.net wins! I have a good photo above you can look at.

Apple would have no reason to give them an iPhone 4 early, which surprised me when I saw something that at least resembles it. I won't deny that the picture I posted looks like it has a flat back and a metal frame, which can be clearly made out at the top of the iPhone.

look at all the pictures
it doesnt resemble the 4 at all when deciding between a 3G/3GS and a 4
