iPhone 4 white available anyway?

So officially the white iPhone 4 is unavailable till spring 2011. But what about all these auctions on eBay with white iPhones in it. See this for example: http://cgi.ebay.com/Iphone-4-32GB-White-/280582133851 There is a white iPhone on it's package so it must be genuine. Where did this guy got these white iPhones? Furthermore a German online shop sells them too for an exorbitant price at 1999 for the 16GB and at 2199 for the 32GB. It says they are sealed and unlocked, but they come with an extra power adaptor.

I know that Apple recently started to sell them to their staff. But how can a guy get three or more of them? In fact, how can he get them unlocked?
 
There are sites that can make your iPhone 4 white.

The Phone may be white, and the box may have an image of a White iPhone, but as soon as you plug it into iTunes its going to show an images of the black iPhone and the phone will not be warrantied by Apple.

just like appleguy123 said, the parts were changed and the box has more likely been photoshop.

they are pre orders. He does not officially have them in his hands. I think he was hoping they would be released before christmas.......

That seller is conducting a pre-order, as listed in the description. I would guess that he's taking the money THEN buying the phone. He takes the black phone, makes it into a white phone and then ships it to you.

Shipping after 30 days of receiving the money gives it away. He doesn't have them in stock.

Its a scam. It is stated that he ships 30 days after payment.

You can't open a paypal case after 45 days. So when he ships he tells you it will take 15 days.

Then after 45 days you are f u c k e d

these people are probably buying black iPhones then sending to colorware to have them painted white. hence the 7 year ship time.

in fact, you can have colorware paint it any color you want... i kind of like the lime green myself!

if you want to buy it new from colorware and have it painted, it is $1350.00 and ARO 3weeks to ship.

because they are just covering the outside, so they cant do the front as you wouldn't see the screen, its a ridiculous price to basically achieve the same as sticking a skin on the back, which can be removed if you decide you don't want it there, unlike paint, most of the white iphones on ebay will have had the black parts swapped with White parts from China

The reason why Apple don't release the white iPhone, they can't match the white tone of the Home button with the of the white body, all the white iPhones you see now have this problem.

this is apple we are talking about here, it doesnt take 6 months plus to sort an issue like that.

its likely to be a few reasons.
 
Maybe the home button was the initial problem, and there was talk of backlight leaking through

Then maybe the manufactorers realized they can make a hell of a lot more money selling these parts themselves, so now apple can't source the parts cheap enough.

Who knows...
 
Maybe Apple just didn't feel like it. Most who wish for white has or will buy black anyways. Look at the previous sales of black vs white. Apple probably feels it's not worth it.

Yes but tons and tons of people still want white. I think iResQ couldn't keep up with demand so they had to do a backlog because so many people wanted their phone to turn white!

there are many services out there that will convert your iPhone from black to white, or you can DIY.

also, you didn't even read that auction did you? the guy ships the day the payment is cleared..

and to the people saying the box was photoshopped, the picture was likely PS'd... but you can also buy white iPhone 4 boxes on a bunch of chinese websites for dirt cheap
