Unless you change something, it will stay the same. When you buy the new iPhone 4, you will have the option to keep your current unlimited data plan ($30) or downgrade to the $15 (200mb) or $25 (2 GB) package.

Yes it's the iPhone 4, but I think it is still legitimate to call it the 4G because it's the 4th gen iPhone. We use to call the iPod's 1G 2G 3G before data standards took the name from us.

activation (might be able to wavier this if you have a fan account?) for the first month and should be the same after that

its funny how something like the letter "G" pisses so many ppl off :D chill out. i didnt kno. i thought it was just plain iphone 4 til i seen like a million people writing iphone 4G.

Seeing as how the 3G technically was the 2G, you really should call it by it's real name. 4G indicates it works on 4G networks, which it doesn't. Just like calling the iPod Touch an "iTouch", it's just wrong. And I'm sure you didn't see "like a million people" calling it a 4G.

don't we call first gen iphone, iphone 2g?

iphone 4th generation.

He is simply trying to correct a misunderstanding that you have about what the G means and prevent you from looking like an ass yourself.

4G does not mean fourth generation iPhone as that name is reserved for phones and wireless modems that support the new 4G wireless network. There are 4G phones coming, but iPhone 4 is not a 4G phone, and should not be called one. Maybe you just want to run around thinking it's cool to say you have a 4G, even though that iPhone model doesn't even exist but you should take a moment to read up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G

Didn't you notice that the 2nd generation iPhone was not called iPhone 2G, but iPhone 3G? It was called 3G to highlight support for the 3G wireless network. Using your logic it should have been called the iPhone 2G. Take a look and read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iphone#Models

Now there could very well be a iPhone 4G later this year or next year, depending upon how 4G catches on.
