i got an iphone 4s off my friend that he found 3 years ago and i was wondering if there is anyway to ghet it replaced at apple as the battery life nos 2 hours and the 4g/3g/2g dont work?

Last I checked, you can get the battery replaced for $50. If cellular data doesn't work though, Apple might just offer you a replacement. I think for the 4S, the replacement is $199 although I'm not entirely sure.
 
Also, the 4S doesn't contain any 4G hardware, so even after a repair/replacement it won't "do" 4G/LTE.

At least the AT&T version of the 4S does, sorta. They have HSPA+, which they call 4G and shows on the phone a 4G (although its really 3G+) signal.

To avoid the confusion, I always refer to AT&Ts "4G" as 3G+ and 4G LTE as just "LTE".
