iPhone 4s apple symbol shows up, goes away, won't turn on

A few hours ago, I pulled up my photo album. Every time I brought it up, my iphone 4s shut down and then restarted. I went online to the chat, and was told to update my software. I first backed up my phone, but it shut down before the backup could complete. My phone started showing the apple symbol like it was booting up, only for it to disappear and turn back off a few seconds later. It keeps doing this over and over again. I tried to go back to the chat, but my warranty is expired (I guess the one I got was a free trial or something like that). Please help!!
