I bought this "High Capacity Gold Battery 2680 mAh" on ebay.

Under the gold label was this - which I think is a standard 1430 mAh iPhone battery.

iPhone 4s battery from ebay

I could have told you it was fake, 'cause the mAh of a battery defines it's dimensions. So, if it was possible to fit higher mAh in the same size, Apple would have done it already.

That is why there will never ever be a battery with higher mAh, which will fit in any iPhone.

At least you received a battery and not some piece of metal, so you're lucky in a way

When I tested the NEW battery I found it had been charged 421 times already.

You only have to divide 5.3Wh by 3.7V To get 1432 mAh. Looks like they took an old battery and put a new label on it.

I've never had a battery purchased online that was not a lie, for any model or brand of phone. I just don't bother any more. If one of my iDevices needs a battery my plan is just to pony up the $$$$$$$$$. $$$$$$$ open my wallet wide to apple to just not have the headaches you're having right now. Been there already.

Purchase a battery from ifixit.com. Everyone I've ever got the first time I plugged it in read 1-2 cycle counts. Not sure if that was from me or the original charging process regardless it was obviously new. Identical markings/model/serial numbers/etc that are on the OEM battery.

That's why I love Samsungs. You can buy a brand new, genuine battery in a sealed retail packet for $30. With an Apple device, you either buy a fake battery off the internet, a previously used battery off the internet, or you get ripped off by Apple for 80$.
