Hi,
Ive done a lot of research and im not too sure what is wrong.

My iPhone 4s was working perfectly fine until the other day when it decided not to charge, at first i thought it was just in need of a new battery as i thought it couldn't store charge. So i bought a brand new battery and fitted it. The iPhone started up fine and was running well like it normally does, so I just used it until the battery ran out of power and the phone switched off. I plugged it in to a wall socket with a genuine apple charger and it showed that it was charging, 15 minutes later, no sign of life, just shows the battery picture with the thunderbolt to show that it knows its plugged in to a charging cable

I left it for a few hours on charge with the genuine cable but still nothing.

A month or so ago (28/06/13) I bought a 3 metre charging cable off ebay (same as the one in the link below), this is the only thing i have changed recently and the iPhone hasn't been dropped, seen any water or been damaged in any way.

A bit of research on the internet shows that it could be a fuse?

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
James

iPhone 4s Battery working but wont charge

Hi,
I had the same problem.

Try cleaning your charging port with contact cleaner.( I sparingly used nail polish remover on a tooth brush).

My port was filthy and had poor contacts (imagine all the crap from your pockets and bags etc that filth up the charging port)

I did get the "doesn't charge with this accessory" message but, i just reset the phone and its been good since then.

I hope this simple fix works for you.

Cheers

Easy thing to try: Blow the 30 pin jack with compressed air, use the straw.

While u are at it, inspect with a loupe see if anything weird.
