Hello,

I've just recieved my iPhone 4S from Apple. The thing is, it seems to have a annoying buzz when the vibrations getting activated. Anyone else also had this problem? I dont want to be without a smartphone for another 2 weeks. Does anyone know the policy of Apple, and can you wait on your replacement, (iPhone 4S) in the meanwhile before the UPS courier picks it up?

Also in The Netherlands we do not have a official Apple store. So i can't return it in, for getting a new one instantly.

there were a bunch of previous threads on this... it seems to be a very common "issue" which also means your replacement may not be any better. i had this issue and went to an apple store and the guy said its sounds just like his and a lot of others, he wasn't going to replace it but talked to a manager and she approved it but said it was a one time thing and there was no guarantee the replacement would be any better. it is a little but not a whole lot. the silent vibrator isn't an advertised feature so genius's will tell you technically there is nothing wrong with the phone.

sorry i don't know how mail returns work, but it seems like a small percentage chance you'll get one that's silent.

The iFixit teardown of the iPhone 4S showed that it's using a different vibrator mechanism from previous versions. Consequently, it's going to feel/sound differently from previous versions, and you're not likely to find a 4S that sounds like the "old" version.

At the bottom: " It appears that Apple elected to go with the linear oscillating vibrator that we found in the Verizon iPhone 4 as opposed to the rotational electric motor with counterweight in the AT&T version."

I had iPhone 4S before, but non of them makes the same sound as the one i currently have. It doesn't vibrate at all, the sound disturb the vibration. It just makes alot of noise. My vibration is useless now, because it's not silent.

My first 4S did make a terrible noise when the vibrator set off. I called Apple, told them about it, and was adviced to get it replaced at the shop I bought it from.

I took it to a local Three store here in Denmark, told them I had spoken to Apple, showed him the problem briefly, where after he took it in for replacement. Five days later I had a brand new 4S, and this new one doesn't make that buzzing noise when it vibrates, plus the battery is far better than on my first 4S. Win win so far.

So yeah, go get it replaced.

Tried to get a replacement, the guy told me they all do that. He would have replaced it if I pushed him, but every iphone ive seen does it.

Just received mine and have the same issue, have an appointment with at the Genius Bar tomorrow, have another 4s which is silent. Very annoying sound.

The problem is a lot more common in the Black models over White. I had 3 replacements for my Black one, and with each replacement it got worse and worse. Finally caved and got a white, happens once in a while, not nearly as bad. I miss my iPhone 4. It was perfect. I have a noisy vibrate and a yellow screen!!!
