iPhone 4S calendar & google calendar

I need some help, I searched the forums but wasn't able to find the answer.

I am able to view my google calendar on my 4S calendar, but appointments I make on my 4S does not transfer to google. Is there anyway the two calendars can communicate both ways?

Settings - mail, contacts and calendars - scroll down to calendar default calendar, make this your google calendar.
