Hi,

I just got a iphone 4S Verizon CDMA that has iOS 4.1 on it. I would like to upgrade it to iOS 5 and not 6 since it is not supported in our company, atleast not yet. I have tried loading iOS 5.1.1 from various ipsw files but it says it is not compatible. Does anyone know of any ipsw file that will work?

Thanks

You have an CDMA iPhone 4, not the 4S. Look for that IPSW. Also you need the SHSH for your phone for iOS 5.1.1.

Alright,

Seem strange, the phone looks like a 4S but I can try that. Where do I get the SHSH and what is it used for?

Both i4 and 4S look exactly the same on the outside. Only thing missing from the i4 is siri and other hardware components inside.
You cannot get shsh's for anything but firmware 6.0.1 right now.
If the phone was never JB or used Tinyumbrella to pull blobs before there's nothing you can do.
You will never be able to install any other version but the lastest firmware that Apple is signing at the moment.
