Really looking for some advice. I got my iPhone 4s from Vodafone when it was launched (on launch date). Everything worked as normal, except whenever i started or shutdown iPhone, a cogwheel symbol would appear instead of apple logo. But everything was fine, and I didnt make too much of it. I am on Vodafone contract. Now yesterday I upgraded to 5.1 and I think my phone got bricked. As it does not even start. (It stays on the cog wheel logo). I tried restoring it. Doesnt help. I took it to apple 'genius' and they tried restoring it, but doesnt work. They think I have jailbroken my iPhone, which I havent!! (I am not that clever!) and will not do anything with my iPhone and have returned it back, the 'genius' said it was good as a paperweight!. Which I think was really inconsiderate. They offered NO help at all and were quite rude.
I took it to Vodafone, and they have sent it to their repair center. But fearing the worst, they might also say they cannot do anything. I wanted to know what are my rights on this? As it is a iPhone, on contract and definitely not jailbroken. How do I get these guys to fix/replace it? And also later on I would like to make a formal complaint against the genius bar in the apple store.
Can you please help ? As you can imagine, it is quite frustrating for a Apple customer. I did not know that Cog wheel that was there, would be something so drastic else I would have reported it earlier.
