Question:
My iphone has been crashing like crazy (on app startup, 2minutes into using an app, etc). I actually had this problem with my old 3gs, but it seemed to temporarliy go away when I upgrade to the 4s a few months ago. It also happens in mail and safari, so it's not just 3rd party apps.
So far I've tried:
- closing all apps in the background
- doing a hard reset (home+power button for 10 sec until it rebooted)
- completely turning off phone and back on. None of these worked.
Now, when I first setup my 4s, I used the restore from a backup method (my old 3gs) rather than creating it as a new phone.
Sooooooooo, I've read that it might be best to completely wipe out everything by going the DFU route.
My question is this: Once I reset everything with DFU, is there a way I can access my contacts, apps, etc without restoring from a backup? (Basically, I'm asking if there's a way to do only a backup of the files, and not a snapshot of everything). I'd like to set it up as a "new phone" and see if that works - I just don't know how to properly back everything up.
