iphone 4s crash

so far ive been loving my new 4s, however today while on the amazon app, it suddenly crashed, and then that thing that spins when it usually closes just kept on spinning, i held the power button for a while (around a minute) and finally it closed, then i opened it as i normally would have, is my iphone faulty or can this happen from time to time

Try doing a hard reset or restore the phone.
