iPhone 4s front camera problem

This is pretty awful, the front facing camera on my new iPhone 4s does not like light. If it gets to bright, the camera goes black, or sometimes it just flickers. A restart helps, until the same thing happens again.

Is this a broken device?

That happened to my 4S on day 4 of ownership. No amount of restoring or hard resetting fixed it. If you've got a Apple Store nearby make an appt and tell them front camera is broke and they'll replace it for you.

Those have unlimited warranties. Go order a new one for free.
