I've had my iPhone 4S since release day.
I've never had any real problems with it.

Although tonight my lock button started acting weird.. it has to be pressed really hard to lock/unlock, I also noticed I have 1 dead pixel in the lower right hand side of my screen. I didn't purchase Applecare but I've only had the phone 5 and a half months.

My question is, is there a way to fix this? Will I need to send it to Apple.
And if I have to send it to Apple, will they send me a replacement phone first or will I be without a phone for 1-2 weeks? Any help is very appreciated!

Thanks!

Just stop by an apple store and they will swap it out for a new one. No waiting without a phone involved.

Definitely the way to go if there is an Apple store nearby. I had an iPhone 4 replaced for this same issue.
