iPhone 4S iMessage option disappeared!

I have been having issues with my phone/iMessage for a while.
Last night my phone stopped sending texts and iMessage. I got my texting back, but not iMessage. There's no where in the settings to even show I have iMessage?

First steps to try are (after backing up your iphone)...

Reset your phone by holding power and home button together for 5-10 seconds.
Restore your phone through iTunes.

Are you on iOS 7?

Settings, Messages. It doesn't show anything about iMessage there? Not even the on/off toggle? Perhaps provide a screenshot of that screen.
