Hi.

Long story short: I found my old iphone 4s and have forgotten the passcode. I have tried every single advice that's been given online to fix it and it just does not work.

I have synced it with the same laptop & itunes I have always used for it. Last sync with the working phone was in April 2013.

Now that I try syncing it, I have a ton of problems:

- phone is over max capacity for memory so it doesn't work to update it to the new itunes 7 version
- doesn't work to reset because I don't have my passcode
- when I try reformatting my phone by holding down the power and home button, then releasing the power button when the apple logo appears, instead of going into recovery mode, my itunes just says 'an iphone was detected but cannot be identified'

I honestly have no idea what to do. I've tried to fix this problem for at least 3 months now by using online tips until I get so mad and just give up.

Is this even a fixable problem or should I just throw this phone out.

Please help.
