iPhone 4S ios 5.1.1 random messages on lock screen = hacked phone?

I wish I took a screen shot but didn't, anyway my iPhone lock screen was randomly showing phrases where the date should be right underneath the clock such as "Mary Jane", "No Diggity", "Gangstas run the world" so I decided to power off and power on my phone and they are gone. I just want to make sure my phone wasn't hacked somehow and any sensitive data from my banking applications etc were not at risk.

Where you listening to music when this was happening? Because if you were, then it's normal. Also, is your phone jailbroken?
