iPhone iphone 4s ios 8 dfu

hi everyone im new to here looking for some advice after 11 hours of searching google, i have a iphone 4s with ios 8.1, i need to enter dfu mode. i have tyred with redsnow creating a ipsw with built in dfu when i restore via itunes i just get error codes, i have tryed different ipsw, is there any other way of entering dfu?

Take a look here. Its a simple process. However you cannot downgrade or load iOS 8.1 now. Apple is no longer signing. So not sure why you need DFU as opposed to just a restore but you can download 8.1.1 ispw file and and use it still for now (probably til tomorrow if I were to guess). But not 8.1.

ok cheers i managed to do it appears phone was 8.1.2 and 8.1.1 wont work. i wanted it to go into dfu mode to try and read what's on the phone via putty. but later found this is not possible with a5, anyone know if its possible to jtag?? or any other way via usb?
