considering an upgrade from a flip phone to an iPhone. these things are expensive and i want to get thru this upgrade on the cheap. the 4s is $499
and i would just want to buy the phone and keep my plan.

will the 4s support ios8?

if i keep ios7 will i have issues 1 year from now with apps or such?

thanks

It will, but i'm sure it will be extremely slow and sluggish, heck I love IOS7 but it seems I have to re boot my phone like once a week, due to slowness and force closes.

On a 4S? As of 7.1 even the 4 is at least decent on iOS 7, and the 4S is much more so given that it's quite a bit more powerful than the 4.

You'd be getting a much better deal if you bought used. A 2nd hand 16GB GSM iPhone 4S costs between $200-$250 in my area; that includes the box and original accessories. The iPhone 4S that you'll buy from Apple, for twice the price, will only be an 8GB model.

I wouldn't pay $500 for a 4s when you can get a 5c for like $50 more.

Also, check Swappa, you can find them for about half that.

Buy a 4s used don't pay $500 for it. I'm selling a 32gb 5s right now and I have it listed for $500. A used 4s in good condition should cost half that or less. I have the iOS 8 beta on my 4s right now. It runs ok but not great. Once it's final software it should be better.

$500 for a 4S, are you nuts?..

$500 for a 4S?!

You could easily get a used 5S for that.

Also the 4S wont be sold when the 6 comes out so the 5C will be the "cheap" phone.

Don't buy a 4S .. Not now.. Wait for October, the prices of the 5, 5C,5S will reduce.. See which suits your price range and buy any one of those... The 4S is expected to be lagging like 4 on ios 7.. And ios 8 is the last upgrade for the 4S while the others will see ios 9 and more also..

P.S one of the comment person is selling a 5S for $500 .. Buy that, good deal
