Hi guys,
i got from my friend from France a locked iPhone 4S. Is there any chance to activate it without a France SIM card or with some another one but not France? I know that I can jailbroke it now but firstly I have to activate it. Is this possible??? I am really desperate :(

He probably means not activated.

Which is why he would need a sim from the carrier the phone is sim-"locked" to.

not necessarily dodgy, just not thinking when buying or receiving a phone.

Go to ebay and find a sim from the carrier it's locked to.
Purchase it.
Put it in your phone.
Now you're past the activation screen and you are the proud owner of an ipod touch
You know you can't software unlock it, right?

Coming from a relative newcomer...

Although newbies frequently ask questions before reading it's still considered common courtesy not to call somebody a fraud in a first reaction.

Unfortunately you missed that point...
