iPhone 4s no reception at times

My wife's iPhone 4s is on iOS 8.4 and with O2 Germany

last 2 weeks the mobile acts weird . The phone shows singal (2-3 bars) but the phone isn't reachable when someone calls

I am on same network and I have network. I am on iPhone 5s on iOS 8.4

Could this be a defect with hardware?

If resetting the Networks Settings do not work and their are no carrier updates it would be an idea try youre Sim in another phone as a process of elimination to rule out the phone or sim that may be at fault.

It's not a defect, you just have to use a bumper lol...RIP Steve. Try resetting network settings, restarting, and also reseat the SIM card. May also be worth a call to the carrier to see if they need to clear anything on their end. If the phone was fine two weeks ago, the issue may just go away if they were maybe fiddling with their carrier towers.

Mobile was working fine since the launch in 2011 with the same sim and carrier. Only last 2 weeks it's causing lots of trouble

I tried cleaning the SIM but no help

I did the network reset. Will wait for couple of days and see how this behaves
