Hi all

I am looking to but my wife the Bose Sounddock series III for her birthday.

The problem is that she currenty has an iPhone 4S with the 30 pin connector. In January she will be upgrading to an iPhone 5S.

Is there an adapter available to with a lightening female connector 30 pin male?

Thanks

Martin

There's the Apple 30pin to Lightning adapter, you'd probably want the cable version as the other one doest fit many iPhone 5/5s/5c cases: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD824ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter-02-m?fnode=3c

Two other ideas: consider the pricier Bose SoundLink Air. Save $50 if you have a Bose outlet nearby and can buy a refurb unit. This is what I did and its nice not to physically tie the phone to the speaker. Plus it's more portable even without the $$batterypack$$$ add on, as the power cord is more easily moved than with the SoundDock (I have the II but expect the III is similar)

Also, if the III has an Aux port you could use the AUX-in port either to play music directly from the phone or use an Airport Express ($75 refurbs via store.apple.com) to make it usable on AirPlay. See http://www.macworld.com/article/1160417/how_to_build_your_own_airplay_audio_system.html

Careful though, I've seen SoundDock II's sold at SAMs Club that don't have an AUX port. If they offer the III watch that they don't pull the same shenanigans.
