I'm giving Apple a year to get the A6 CPU and hybrid iOS sorted. I do believe there will be a lot more advancements by then than the upcoming phones.
Besides I think it's going to take Apple one more product cycle, before they get the antenna done right. Immediately after Antennagate they hired engineers who's specialty is antennas'. The upcoming iPhones will be their first results. I don't have a lot of confidence that it will be their best.
That said, I'm sure after another year at Apple these antenna specialists will have it down.
Also Steve won't be around to influence the style over function obsession he has. That's why the Antennagate phone was so bad. They even warned him, but he would not back down. The external antenna was his baby and he was not giving up, even though we had to suffer.
The next iPhone I buy will be able to make calls reliably or I'm staying away.
