I believe that 3Gs stood for speed.

I don't think Apple has made it official what the s stands for in the 4s.

I propose the "s" stand for Steve.

Anyone agree? :apple:

This has been mentioned often
But feel free to take the S to mean whatever you want

Speed
Sprint
Steve
Scam
Superduper

It won't be printed anywhere, so make it your own

Siri perhaps? Or maybe they're turning 'iPhone xS' into its' own brand name, referring to the smaller hardware updates, where it once specifically referred to something that is no longer of relevance. Much like how the 'i' prefix originally stood for 'internet' when the iMac first launched, but ended up becoming a general naming tool for later products such as the iPod and iPad.

Its a place holder until the next iPhone. Then they can add the G for 4G. I believe it will be named the 4Gs.
