The UK price is £700 = $1080 USD

Am i right in thinking that each state has it's own sales tax that i must remember to put on?

Where are you getting the UK price from, as it hasn't been released yet? Here for example they claim it will be £659 (which is $1016 US, or $847 if you take VAT at 20% off).

Apparently its on the Apple Store app but I haven't got an iOS device to verify this.

Apple reps have been telling people mixed things. Some yes some no. It will probably not be available immediately factory unlocked.

Remember the UK price includes 20% VAT

The USA sales tax wont be as much as that. Say you add an extra 5-10% MAX for Florida, still near £100 cheaper!

Are you asking because you'll be in the U.S. and hoping to get one there?

You won't be able to take advantage as the US apple stores won't initially be selling the 4S unlocked.

The Apple store App states £499, £599 & £699. Tempted to go for 32gb if its only another £80 though.
