hey all,

Please tell me that there's a way to stop the phone from deleting text messages automatically? or at least sync them to my computer so they aren't lost? i need to have the records for some conversations....

thanks

Text messages don't delete automatically. I still have messages from 2008. I have heard some reports of people who are having messages deleted in error in iOS 5.

oh okay, that must be what it is. this is my first iPhone, but i was like ae you kidding me??? maybe ill catch a software update soon...

thanks man

Racer, don't take offense to this but since you said this is your first iPhone, I thought I'd ask.

Are you sure they're actually deleted? If you scroll to the top when you're in the conversation window of any one person, does it say "load earlier messages"? The iPhone likes to hide older texts for some reason, but you can still load them if that message is present.

Just a thought. :D

Just a word of warning SMS Txt messages are not really synced to your computer. They are included in the backup process and there are some third party ways to extract SMS Txt messages from the backup.

As a previous poster indicated, they don't expire or auto-delete are you sure that you are not just not see part of a conversation that was displayed earlier.

Display earlier messages in the conversation
Scroll to the top (tap the status bar) and tap Load Earlier Messages.
