iPhone 4s Unlocking question

Ok so I lost my iphone about a month ago and I was stupid and didnt get insurance on my contract, now If I want a new one I have to pay retail for the iPhone. Not happening. Anyways I have a friend that works at ATT (my carrier) who said he will help me out if I can get an iphone. Another friend of mine has an extra iphone 4s and is willing to sell it to me. The problem is its a Verizon iPhone. I know you can unlock iPhone but I wanted to know how to unlock an iPhone 4s to then switch its carrier, if its possible

You cannot unlock a verizon 4S for domestic GSM use in the US.
If you unlock the verizon 4S it can be used with any gsm sim outside the USA.
In other words you will not be able to use a verizon 4S with AT&T.
