iphone 4s verizon data and talking..

Ahh ok i thought it was something that had to do with this model. ok just checking.
actually it is the model. Many of Verizon's phones can surf and talk at the same time. Apple hasn't enabled 4G LTE on iPhone yet. Hopefully this will be a feature on the iPhone 5!
IT IS still the network. The 3G Verizon is just standard CDMA 2000, which uses EV-DO for Data, and RTT1X for voice, and can't do both at the same time, where at&t uses UMTS (GSM) where the high-speed network is used for voice and data, so there is no need to switch, which is why you can use them at the same time.

It's a network issue... any phone manufactured for Verizons 3G Network can not talk and surf but you can on the 4G.
thats not entirely true, the thunderbolt can do this without utilizing any 4G, read this

That phone has not one.... but TWO radio modem chips. It's also why it has no battery life.
Man, I don't wanna pull the fanboy card on you guys... but you're kind of asking for it. Only the thunderbolt can talk and surf the web?? No. Try the Razr, Stratosphere, Bionic, Revolution, Charge, Nexus, Rezound, and Breakout can. Any phone that HAS 4G LTE CAPABILITY. Verizon's 4g Network supports talking/surfing. Apple decided not to enable the iPhone 4s with this capability. Can you explain to me how if the network can do it, but this particular phone doesn't support it, that it's the network and not the phone?

Any phone with the LTE turned off? So far, that's only the Tunderbolt.
Why would Verizon change its entire network to update 3g when they're busy rolling out 4g? Seems pretty pointless
This is just another case of Apple releasing an outdated product. Guarantee the next Verizon iPhone will be 4G capable.

Very true. LTE is 3.99G. There is no 4G yet per the ITU.
I think you're splitting hairs now. Either way, true 4G or not, Verizon's LTE network allows you to surf and talk at the same time. Apple didn't enable LTE ability with the iPhone 4s.
