iPhone 4S vibration sounding weird

There's already a thread up in the Tips section, but it seems like a lot of people talk in the main section here so I could get more feedback.

My vibration sounds like a muffled beep and not the normal vibration sound from previous gens. Anyone else?

It seems like it has happened for some and not others. I have not seen or heard it on my phone but you'd be better served to join other discussions with other users who have the same reported issue.

You could always walk into Apple and show them. I don't know if it is a real problem or not.

Edit: Or learn what motor was used. /shrug

It only sounds weird if the phone isn't in contact with anything. If it's on my table or in my pocket, I don't notice it.
