I think its a great update.

LTE, the bigger screen, thinner design, metal back. Great update

exited about the battery and processor/graphics.

too bad no IBD demo. instead RR3, wich was expected by me and another MR member.

I'm starting to believe that apple developers have realized their customers are gullible and buy anything they release. This could be part of their experiment? Why would anyone in their right mind upgrade from a 4 or 4s to a 5? There's absolutely no good reason unless you just have wild amounts of money to spend. There is just simply not an upgrade. This makes apple look bad once again and apple haters are going to make the best of this yet again.

Keep in mind i am an apple "fanboy", not an android troll.

I am kind of disappointed not at the specs but at the design.

They are still using the same industrial design that dates back to 2010!
I was wishing for something a little more curvy that gives the phone a more airy look.

For a lot of people, that might be the case. Upgrading from a 4s to a 5 isn't worth it even to me. But having LTE alone is enough for me to upgrade from 4 to 5, plus the other new things. However, when it is time for me to upgrade from the 5 to a 7 (or whatever), Apple will REALLY need to impress me in order to upgrade in 2 years. If the 5 had no LTE, then I wouldn't be buying. I don't know what else a phone needs to do to impress me anymore.

There really is hardly any difference!

I really wanted to get the iphone 5 but...

Trouble is i dont like any of the android phones either!
I'm with you. My contract just expired yesterday and i have MORE than enough money for the new iphone 5. They only needed a little bit to convince me but they didn't do that. Now i'm not sure what i'm going to do. Maybe just keep my iphone 4 until i see something I like.

At least the 4S is cheaper now...

I'm happy to see the 4S at the $99 price point is 16GB, not 8GB. I always thought that was a bit sneaky, dropping the price but reducing the storage. No point buying a 4 with 8GB when you can get a 4S with 16GB for only $99 more...

Upgrading a cell phone every year is a silly thing to do. I know many people do it, I'm just saying it's silly.

So Apple has decided to not market to silly people.

This is a terrible thing?

typical upgrade nothing thrilling. I mean I loved getting my first mac mini first iphone first ipad. but the last few iphone upgrades are jsut a little faster a little better but that's it. Now with a ipad to play games and such on I don't care if I have the newest iphone.

I don't think it's silly, nor those that do it.

Especially in the past where you could basically get paid to upgrade by selling your old phone for more than you paid.

Just opinion though.

I actually don't mind the disappointing specs and 'new features' in the iphone 5 because it means my 64gb Iphone 4S is not too different. The only reason I would currently want the iPhone 5 for is the new network speeds, and I don't think that will be worth it yet for another year until the networks have been fully integrated.

Look, I do it too! You don't have to convince me. I'll be replacing my 4S this Friday too.

But it's still silly.
