Looking for help and I will admit I am completely tech illiterate.
I have two issues and I am not sure they are completely linked and Apple is of no help so far. We purchased a Mac Pro in late spring but had hardly used the computer. Last week I finally opened it up and started emailing, downloading photos, and surfing the web. I was notified that my system needed 3 updates (no I was not on any fishy websites) upon shut down. I know at least 1 of the updates was from itunes and I believe the Loin operating system. The computer never turned back on, well it does not remains on the gray apple logo screen with the spinning dial. I did a safe start-up which all locked at socket not found. Called Apple and I am just out of the 90 days of technical support!!!! so i scheduled a visit to Apple for this week.
Now the interesting part is my iphone all the sudden experienced issues at the same time. I can wait for the computer but am aggravated with the phone. First the data would not connect to the towers, I called the carrier and they were able to do a restart of my phone. But now I can not find any wifi networks. I can not find my home network, office network, or any other. I know it is the phone because my ipad, and the other 2 we have in the home, find 6 different wifi signals. I have tried to do the general network reset option - that did not work.
Any ideas? and please give me baby steps I can follow.
Thank you
