iphone 4s with no sound from speakers when playing media

I have a Iphone 4s that is 8 months old. I can only hear music when headphones are plugged in. The only time i get sound out of the speakers is when i recieve a phone call i have checked the volume settings etc.any suggestions? All media will play thru headphones

The phone has only been out for five months... Regardless, it should be under warranty. Why not take it in to Apple?
