Hi there,

A month or so ago, I bought an iPhone 4S which had an issue where the SIM card wouldn't read sometimes. When I received the phone, it would not read the SIM card at all.

I went down to a repair shop recently and got them to replace the SIM card reader. They got it to read for about 30 seconds and then they declared it as ****ed.

If it's not the SIM card reader, what could it be?

EDIT: I can't use the phone as an iPod either as it's stuck on the activation screen.

If the repair place replaced the reader, it didn't work and they told you it's f#**ed then I wouldn't bother any further.
It's not worth putting good money into bad.
The 4s is old, slow and abandoned by Apple.
Get something newer that works.
