Am I the only one who doesn't see much sense in Apple launching both, setting 4S at a lower price point?

They can just as well reduce the price of the current 4, like they did with the 3GS when 4 came out.

Couldn't have discussed this in one of the other 30 threads regarding iPhone 4s/5?

Except it would save them money by discontinuing the 4 and introducing the 4S.

It's expected to be able to work on all bands, so Apple wouldn't have to make (and store) different phones for each carrier.

The rumors suggest that it will have similar insides as the iPhone 5, so Apple would be able to buy more of those parts in higher quantity- lowering costs further.

People's perception of the iPhone 4 is of a phone that has antenna issues, releasing a slightly updated iPhone 4 (modifying the antenna band) and calling it the iPhone 4S or iPhone 4 Plus would help people move past last year debacle.

It makes sense if the 4s is just the 4 with a new processor and new camera dropped in. Odds are the A5 doesn't cost much more than the A4 to use right now. If Apple drops the A4 chip from its phones and uses the A5 in both the 4s and the 5, it doesn't have to maintain two supply lines for the phones and can cut costs in manufacturing overall.

Do the people who keep reposting and reposting the same topics think that they're getting in on some sort of ad revenue sharing with macrumors or something?

no. its a public forum get used to it

IMO they aren't going to launch a 4S, it's going to be a 5. Waiting a year and a half just to introduce a 4S is not Apple. The 4 lookalike rumor circulating the internet is just an iPhone 4 with the 5's internal that Apple uses for testing purposes.

It also works for quick referencing instead of digging through older threads! But anyway I read an article about going after the other markets. It would make sense because people would have a cheaper alternative that would still be a new phone.

Apple know better than anyone....why they are launching two new iPhone.-

1. iPhone 3GS will not up to date iOS 5 (performance) it will not continue after 4th October event.

2. Remember what happened after iPhone 4 come out (antenna issue) Apple got a lesson....they build new design and best ever whatever we called iPhone 5.

3.iPhone 4 minor update becoz the design is cool & 1 year so, there is no point to stop it.

New policy
iPhone 4
iPhone 4G (better & getting more better)
iPhone 5 (thinner,bigger & even faster)

Please don't angry & disappointment for my poor English.

That's good thinking! Then the low cost model and normal model iPhone AND the iPad2 would all use the same chip. One chip to rule them all if you will.
