Recently I made a deal with my friend to sell my iphone to him. So, before I let it go, I want to make a clean restore. The iphone was jailbroken. Its been 3 days ive tried restore it, but no chance. Ive tried restore in DFU, recovery, using tinyumbrella, all I get is 3196 error, 11 error, 2005 error and the latest problem is stuck on "preparing iphone to restore". I had also tried using another computer, but still unsuccessful. could it be a hardware problem?

Are you trying to restore to a version of iOS that Apple is no longer signing?

If you are this might explain the error. Apple is only signing 9.1.

im trying to update to 8.3 from 7.1.2 iphone 5

^^^This.

It's 9.1 or 7.1.2. If you want to update to a specific version you need to do it when it's current and Apple is still signing it.

Right, so I was correct. You are trying to update to a version Apple is no longer signing.

You can't do that. You can only update to what is currently being signed. Right now that's 9.1.

You will continue to encounter errors unless you go to 9.1.
