iPhone 5 and incompatibility

Hi,
Looking at buying a new car.
Loving these apps... Need a new phone.. I have iPhone 3, want iPhone 5.
Are we saying that I won't be able to use these apps w the new iPhone 5 because of the plug and adapters??
