iPhone 5 and LTE Question

If I am on ATT with an unlimited data plan should I be seeing the phone switch over to 4G whenever I begin a voice call? I live in the DFW metroplex which has LTE coverage that I am able to use when I am not making a voice call. Is this supposed to work like this? Is it a hardware, software, or ATT issue? Thanks in advance.
