iPhone 5 and Travel to the US

Does anyone know if my Rogers iPhone 5 (and/or my wife’s Sony ION) will work if I purchase a prepaid data SIM in the US? I believe my phone jumps to AT&T when I go there.

I’m heading to Florida for X-Mass from Canada.

Never mind. I just realized our iPads are unlocked and a better option.
I don't really care about making phone calls. We have a third phone that has a lot of prepaid time we can use up.

One more question. I’ll be in New Smyrna Florida.
Can someone tell me the best service provider for that area? I believe I used pre-paid AT&T cell phones one time and the reception kind of sucked.
